Marcel Schelian

Marcel Schelian is an apprentice industrial mechanic for machine and system technology. He works in the assembly of machines and systems. He manufactures elements, such as pneumatic units for machines and production systems, and sets them up.

Marcel is a highly motivated and reliable young colleague who has integrated perfectly into his team. So we can say about Marcel Schelian: He is a real team player!

We asked Marcel to write a few words about himself and his everyday life at Hofmann:

I've been an apprentice at Hofmann since September 2022 and my training got off to a great start.

In the first year of training, the apprentices attend many courses on manual metalworking and mechanical production on lathes and milling machines. Soon I will also be taking part in a welding course.

In the inter-company training workshop, we complete many projects based on technical drawings. One project, for example, was the construction of a mechanical drill stand.

Between the courses, we spend our practical phases in the company. I was allowed to work on a machine right at the start of my apprenticeship. Together with a colleague, I worked on the tire inflation machine – that was very exciting and interesting.

For me, Hofmann is a familiar and uncomplicated employer. You have short lines of communication and can always find a colleague in the production hall to support you. I find that very pleasant.

I am looking forward to a solid and wide-ranging apprenticeship and hope to achieve my training goal well. Thanks to the great support from my trainer and colleagues, I feel I'm on the right track. My goal is to shorten my apprenticeship and get a good qualification. After that, I want to do well in my new position at Hofmann.

In my free time, I like to be active in the water sports club and enjoy spending the summer on the boat. I could imagine living in the Netherlands. I really like the friendly mentality of the people and their openness. There are great water areas there that are ideal for sailing trips.

I like meeting up with friends and cooking is a great passion of mine. I like to try things out in the kitchen and sometimes cook more rustic dishes, but sometimes also a bit more unusual. That's great fun for me!
